Wanting to expand upon their ongoing success at the Born Free Motorcycle Show, Boost Mobile decided to do a series of print ads in DicE and Choppers Magazine. We hand picked several influential characters united by a love of vintage bikes and did a series of ads with them using their phones in their everyday lives. The tagline High Voltage Data is a metaphor not only eluding to the power and performance that Boost provides but also a nod to the characters and the lifestyles they lead.
Boost Mobile purchased an ad buy for a train wrap in Charlotte, NC. The brand wanted to do something unique being that this wasn’t an everyday train wrap. It was a marketing effort that adorned the train which transported people to and from the stadium that hosted the 68th annual NBA All-Star Game. Due to the high visibility of the train and nature of the event I wanted to do something that would resonate with the demographic so we came up with an old school graffiti train. This was a great way to do an eye-catching graphic with an fun throw-back urban feel to it.
Virgin Mobile was in need of a visual identity refresh to change up the look for the following year. The graphic system needed to be own-able and unique in order to maintain the global Virgin essence as well as flexible enough to work across all channels. Because the telecom space from a marketing perspective is generally a color centric category, I knew it was necessary to put the brand colors at the forefront. This also helped me create a field of color for messaging and still maintain a sense of the brand appeal through aspirational lifestyle photography and bold copywriting.
Virgin Mobile wanted to do something special for the opening of their flagship store in Chicago. I pitched the idea of doing a collaboration with artist Steven Harrington of National Forest who is known for his contemporary pop style. The team liked the idea so we partnered NF, Samsung and Eskuché to produce a limited edition tech kit. The kit included a wooden box containing an artist edition Samsung device, Eskuché headphones, custom device wallpapers, tee shirts and a limited edition art print.
Boost Mobile had stiff competition happening in the Hawaiian Islands and needed to do something to reinvigorate the brand there. I came up with the idea to do a brand collaboration with famed artist Steve Nazar and the Thrilla Krew as homage to a popular Hawaiian surf and skate brand of the 1980’s. The idea was to do a Hawaii exclusive marketing push including a dealer swag kit, refreshed retail collateral and new promotional offers which would allow the reps and dealers something fresh and exciting to work with.
Boost Mobile wanted to do a print ad campaign for their brand ambassador program. As art director and lead designer on this concept I wanted to do something that spoke to the levels of athleticism as well as the Unlimited nature of the brand offering. The idea was to photographically set our ambassadors in their professional environments and showcase them in a larger than life kind of way. We chose to light it bold and dramatic to create a sense of heroism and consistent visual effect. Following through with a series of clean product images and aspirational messaging to craft a meaningful brand story.
